Responsibilities
- Design and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote early childhood development, including cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.
- Foster a warm and inclusive classroom atmosphere where children feel safe, valued, and motivated to explore.
- Supervise and engage with children during activities such as playtime, circle time, arts and crafts, and outdoor exploration.
- Monitor each child's progress and provide tailored support to meet individual needs, including those with disabilities or special education requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that adheres to safety standards and promotes effective learning experiences.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about children's development, behavior, and classroom activities to ensure a collaborative approach to care.
- Implement behavior management strategies that encourage positive social interactions and emotional regulation.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations and health & safety protocols, including first aid procedures when necessary.
- Support the overall well-being of children by providing nurturing care during diapering, feeding, nap times, and other routines.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan curriculum enhancements and participate in ongoing professional development related to early childhood education.
Skills
- Proven experience working with young children in preschool or daycare settings; previous roles such as nannying or babysitting are valuable assets.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and early education best practices.
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively through positive behavior management techniques and classroom organization skills.
- First aid certification and familiarity with emergency response procedures to ensure children's safety at all times.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs; understanding of inclusive teaching strategies is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, colleagues, and caregivers alike.
- Compassionate caregiving approach combined with patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for early childhood education.
- Knowledge of infant care routines as well as toddler care practices to support diverse age groups within the preschool environment.
- Ability to implement classroom activities that stimulate learning while maintaining discipline in a nurturing manner.
