Position Overview
We are seeking a nurturing, dependable, and enthusiastic Toddler Teacher to lead a classroom serving children ages 1–3 in a private Montessori school setting. This role is essential in creating a calm, safe, and engaging environment that supports early development, independence, and social-emotional growth.
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of toddler development, positive guidance strategies, and early learning foundations. This individual will foster a structured yet flexible classroom that encourages exploration, language development, and self-help skills while ensuring each child feels supported and valued.
Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Leadership & Environment
- Create and maintain a warm, structured, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
- Establish consistent daily routines that support security, independence, and smooth transitions.
- Guide children using positive behavior support and redirection strategies.
- Ensure classroom materials are clean, safe, and aligned with early learning and Montessori-inspired principles.
- Model patience, respect, and calm communication at all times.
Child Development & Care
- Support children’s social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development through play-based and guided activities.
- Encourage language development through conversation, reading, and interactive experiences.
- Assist children with daily care routines, including meals, diapering/toileting, and rest time.
- Observe and document developmental milestones and share progress with leadership and families.
- Identify and support early developmental needs using appropriate intervention strategies when necessary.
Health, Safety & Licensing Compliance
- Maintain a safe and sanitary classroom environment in accordance with licensing requirements.
- Follow all health and safety protocols, including supervision, safe sleep practices, and hygiene standards.
- Ensure proper documentation and adherence to all state regulations.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with teaching staff and leadership to ensure consistency in care and curriculum.
- Maintain open, professional communication with families regarding children’s daily experiences and development.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace culture.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Enrollment in the Central Background Registry (CBR with R#) required.
- Minimum Step 7 on the Oregon Step Registry (or willingness to obtain).
- Current and valid certifications:
- Food Handler’s Card
- CPR/First Aid
- Safe Sleep
- Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN)
- Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety (ICCHS)
- Foundations for Learning (FEL)
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Experience working with toddlers (ages 1-3) in a licensed childcare or school setting.
- Strong understanding of toddler development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Ability to manage a classroom with consistency, patience, and positivity.
- Experience with or interest in Montessori philosophy or play-based learning.
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- A calm, compassionate, and reliable presence with a genuine love for working with young children.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
