Aerospace Tool Builder

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Aerospace Tool Builder to assemble, maintain, and repair tooling used in aerospace manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for building and maintaining steel tooling, shuttle frames, fixtures, and support structures to ensure precision, safety, and production efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and experience working with structural steel fabrication and tooling systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and fit steel tooling, fixtures, jigs, and production support equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of existing tooling and shuttle frames.
  • Build and assemble new tooling according to engineering drawings, specifications, and production requirements.
  • Construct and maintain shuttle frames and related transport/support structures.
  • Inspect tooling components for wear, alignment, structural integrity, and operational functionality.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, drills, presses, welders, and hand tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot tooling issues and implement improvements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tooling and related equipment.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas while following all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Assist with installation and setup of tooling on production equipment as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade certification preferred.
  • Experience in tool building, steel fabrication, aerospace manufacturing, or industrial assembly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, and precision assembly techniques.
  • Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, levels, and tape measures.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment and power tools.
  • Forklift, overhead crane, or rigging experience is a plus.
  • Perform lifting, rigging, and safe movement of tooling, structural assemblies, and production equipment using cranes, hoists, slings, chains, and rigging hardware.
  • Inspect and maintain rigging equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair basic electrical wiring and components associated with tooling, fixtures, and assembly equipment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work in industrial shop environments for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working with steel components and heavy assemblies.

Work Environment

  • Aerospace manufacturing and fabrication facility environment.
  • Exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial equipment.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.50 - $25.50 per hour
