Towing Dispatcher

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Dispatcher to coordinate the efficient movement of freight, vehicles, and personnel within our transportation network. In this vital role, you will serve as the central communication hub, ensuring timely dispatching, tracking, and routing of shipments while maintaining excellent communication with drivers, clients, and internal teams. Your proactive approach will help optimize logistics operations, improve delivery accuracy, and enhance overall supply chain performance. Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule pickups and deliveries using transportation management systems (TMS) such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to ensure timely dispatching of freight.
• Utilize GPS and GIS tools to monitor vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve transportation efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with drivers via multi-line phone systems and two-way radios, providing clear instructions and real-time updates.
• Maintain accurate data entry for shipments, dispatch logs, shipping & receiving records, and fleet management documentation using AS400 or similar platforms.
• Monitor freight movements through GPS tracking systems to ensure compliance with schedules and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with warehouse teams on shipping & receiving schedules, inventory management, and 3PL (third-party logistics) coordination.
• Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements in logistics, supply chain flow, and transportation planning.
• Handle inquiries professionally with phone etiquette while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in dispatching within a transportation or logistics setting is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, and AS400 platforms.
• Familiarity with GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and fleet management software.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey instructions clearly over multi-line phone systems and radios.
• Demonstrated analysis skills for route optimization, freight tracking, and supply chain improvements.
• Proficiency in data entry with high attention to detail; typing skills should be efficient for quick updates.
• Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures along with freight handling processes.
• Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining professionalism using phone etiquette in a busy environment.
