Trade Finance Analyst

Established Long Island based petroleum trading and distribution company is currently seeking a hands-on Trade Finance & Demurrage Analyst.

Position Overview

The Trade Finance Analyst is responsible for accurate, timely, and complete documentation and processing of payments and billings for bulk purchases and sales, including related taxes, expenses, and settlement activity. This role serves as a liaison between Supply & Distribution, internal departments, customers, and suppliers to support a controlled and efficient processing environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Closely monitor department inputs and outputs to ensure information is complete, accurate, and processed on time; investigate delays and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain a controlled processing environment and support compliance with established procedures.
  • Respond to inquiries related to current and completed Supply & Distribution transactions.
  • Stay informed of new business operations and transaction types; evaluate the impact on departmental processes and controls.
  • Work closely with Credit and Treasury on transactions that affect customer accounts, payments, cash activity, and related reporting.
  • Process shipping orders, invoices, billings, payments, product transactions, related taxes, and expenses.
  • Process paperwork required for imbalance settlements.
  • Respond to Credit requests to issue payments to customers for prepaid overpayments.
  • Handle customer and supplier correspondence, inquiries, and problem resolution.
  • Edit, review, and voucher data entered in applicable systems.
  • Research and reconcile discrepancies related to bulk product transactions with customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Demurrage Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and process vessel demurrage charges.
  • Coordinate correspondence related to demurrage calculations, approvals, and payments.
  • Process payments and rebill approved third-party charges in accordance with Scheduler direction.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, internal departments, customers, and suppliers.
  • Industry experience preferred.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
