TRAFFIC MAINTENANCE WORKER II

Starting Salary: $39,879

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Traffic Maintenance Worker ll to join our team. Under general supervision, the successful candidate will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of municipal traffic signs, work zone activities, and pavement marking duties. This role requires a working knowledge of the MUTCD and the VA Work Area Protection Manual, which must be obtained if not already held.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and maintain traffic control devices and municipal traffic signs
• Conduct traffic work zone activities and pavement marking tasks
• Install sign posts and fabricate and erect signs
• Provide appropriate traffic controls for work in public rights of way
• Perform manual labor associated with traffic control device installation and maintenance
• Complete daily work log records to document work performed
• Assist with traffic signal and electrical operations as needed
• Work overtime during special events, weather events, and snow removal operations
  
  

Qualifications:

• Basic computer operating skills with the ability to learn traffic sign management programs
• Experience in a traffic-related field preferred
• Awareness and experience working in and around vehicular traffic
• Ability to safely operate motor vehicles, aerial lift equipment, power, and hand tools
• Ability to solve basic problems independently
  
  

Certifications and Requirements:

• Must obtain and maintain Commonwealth Of VA Flagging Certification
• Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
• IMSA Work Zone Certification or equivalent is desired
• Criminal background and driving record checks required
