A Traffic Systems Crewleader job is available with the City of Fort Worth, Transportation & Public Works, Transportation Management. This division is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining the streetlights, pavement markings, and sign system for the city. The section is seeking a Crewleader to install, repair, and maintain traffic systems.

This position requires working outside standard business hours and in outdoor environments. On-call duty is required of everyone and is on a rotating basis. You may be called out after hours, when not on-call, to assist in an emergency situation. There may be occasions when working overtime is mandatory to complete a special project.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED with additional specialized training related to traffic control systems and equipment
  • Four (4) years of experience in the installation and repair of traffic signals and light systems
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Possession of a Class "B" Commercial Driver's License or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire date
  • Possession of or ability to obtain IMSA (International Municipal Signal Association) Level 1 Roadway Lighting certificate within 12 months of hire date
  • Must pass Drug Screen and Physical

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Software knowledge (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Electrical licenses or certifications (journeyman electrical license)
  • Crane/Rigging certification or work experience

The Traffic Systems Crew Leader job responsibilities include:

  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining streetlight system for the city
  • Prioritizing, assigns, leads, reviews and participates in the work of subordinate employees responsible for street lighting system
  • Monitors and evaluate the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of street lighting repair and installations
  • Prepare reports on operations and activities
  • Document and track labor, equipment, and materials in VUEworks for all repairs completed.
  • Train subordinates on basic electrical knowledge and theory

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.

Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects
