The Role

We are currently seeking a Train Handling and Track Operator , who will play a critical role in the safe and efficient execution of railway operations during the testing and commissioning phase.

The Track Operator will be responsible for:

  • Inspecting the line and promptly reporting anomalies such as obstacles, infrastructure issues, or other hazards that may pose risks to trains, vehicles, or pedestrians.
  • Operating and manually setting switches/turnouts, applying track clamps, and confirming track alignment under the direction of the Temporary Operation Team.
  • Supporting the Operation Control Center (OCC), Train Handling Operator, and Third-Party personnel accessing the line for work activities.
  • Controlling remotely the operation of turnouts/switches during testing and commissioning when signaling is active and OCS is energized.
  • Ensuring turnouts are secured in the “straight track/default” position with clamp and lock after testing, commissioning, or when not in use.
  • Collaborating in traffic management using TETRA portable devices to ensure communication and coordination.
  • Operating train movements when required using a train shunter .
  • Managing the train braking system for brake release or isolation as needed.
  • Supporting the safe management of restricted areas in accordance with the Permit to Work (PTW) system.


Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or technical qualification in railway operations, mechanical, or electrical fields (equivalent experience may be considered).
  • At least 3 years of previous experience in railway operations, shunting, or infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of track equipment, switches, and braking systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with OCC, Train Operators, and field teams.
  • Good command of English and Arabic (minimum B2 level).
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and Permit to Work systems.
  • Hands-on problem-solving skills, initiative, and adaptability in high-pressure environments.


Preferred

  • Prior experience in high-speed rail, metro, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Train Shunter Certification.
  • Certification or training in railway safety systems.
  • Experience with digital tools for traffic or safety management.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and with international stakeholders.
