Trainee - Large-format Signs and Graphics

Do you like creating things? Making things? Seeing a design turn into something real? Have you thought about learning the skills to turn these creative impulses into a career?

If you're a good learner, a hard worker, detail-oriented and you have an aptitude for problem-solving, spatial relations and basic technology, you already have what it takes to make it happen. One option is to pay a lot to go to school; another is to learn hands-on, developing all the basic skills under direct guidance and supervision by actually doing what people are paying for. Working on real commercial projects guarantees the skills you're getting have real commercial value. If you've already been to school to learn some of these basics, you may already know the first question employers ask: what have you actually done commercially?

There's a reason for this: schools charge a lot but don't offer real-world projects, and real-world projects do not work at all like academic projects; what's more, the industry is constantly changing and improving leaving many schools behind. The reality is that if you've already gone to school for design you've spent a lot of money to be taught, but you probably haven't been taught the latest color science, what software skills are actually used in production, how to add actual value to a commercial project, and how to create and refine physical things that AI cannot. Schools teach you -about- real projects instead of teaching you -on- real projects, and that difference means most design graduates who join our program have to start at the very same spot as someone handy with just a little software experience and demonstrated ability to hold a job.

This is the alternative: get paid while you work on real projects and learn solid skills. Over time you'll start to add value to your projects, over time you'll need less supervision, over time you'll be able to use your knowledge, contribute to project plans, innovate, and be compensated for the value you bring in the years ahead. At the same time that you're learning and earning, you'll be able to see what you're adding in a real, commercial setting.
