Ideal Candidate: The Trainer I will support DGM’s Training & Marketing Department by helping students develop their knowledge and skills in IATA, IMDG, and 49 CFR regulations. This role requires the ability to communicate complex concepts in an engaging and motivational way while demonstrating a strong command of Dangerous Goods regulations. The Trainer I plays a key role in educating customers on the safe handling, packaging, and transportation of Dangerous Goods in compliance with international standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct Dangerous Goods training courses (IATA, IMDG, and 49 CFR) in classroom, online, and on-site formats.
  • Prepare and organize all training materials, technology setup, and classroom logistics.
  • Deliver engaging, learner-focused instruction and facilitate interactive discussions to enhance participation and retention.
  • Support senior trainers with course delivery, student engagement, and follow-up evaluations.
  • Manage attendance, testing, and certification documentation, ensuring timely record updates in internal systems.
  • Collaborate with business partners to develop and implement effective training solutions, materials, and knowledge assessments.
  • Respond to customer and sales inquiries regarding registration, scheduling, and course information.
  • Assist in the creation of PowerPoint presentations, training handouts, and marketing collateral (flyers, webinars, and campaigns on social media).
  • Partner with accredited sources to stay current on regulatory and training requirements.
  • Track and report training metrics from various databases to measure program effectiveness.
  • Maintain professional classroom performance, ensuring sessions run smoothly and on schedule.
  • Travel as needed to support client on-site or remote training sessions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 1–3 years of experience as training instructor, logistics, and Dangerous Goods compliance.
  • Associate degree required, preferably in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Knowledge of IATA, IMDG, and 49 CFR regulations (training or certification preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must have exceptional communication, presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Familiarity with marketing fundamentals, campaign execution, and branding preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY EXPECTATIONS

  • Work is primarily performed in climate-controlled classroom and office environments with standard heating/air conditioning.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation in accordance with company housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Follow written work instructions/SOPs and general safety protocols at all times.
  • Report any safety, security, or quality concerns to your manager or QHSE promptly.
  • You may experience minor temperature changes near entryways or when passing by adjacent operational areas.
  • Typical office conditions include prolonged computer use, normal conversation-level noise, and artificial lighting.
  • PPE is not required for normal office duties; PPE may be required only when entering designated warehouse/operational areas for business purposes.
  • Occasional, brief access to warehouse/operational areas may be needed (e.g., to deliver/retrieve documents); observe posted signage and safety rules when doing so.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent typing and data entry; manual dexterity to operate a computer, mouse, and keyboard effectively.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking; occasional bending/reaching within the office.
  • Lift/carry up to 10 lbs occasionally (files, office supplies, small packages).
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read computer screens, documents, and spreadsheets.
  • Clear hearing and speech for in-person, phone, and virtual communications.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (phone, copier, scanner, printer, fax, calculator).
  • Occasional walking through warehouse/operational areas, observing all safety protocols and PPE requirements posted for those areas.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility for occasional Saturdays, overtime, or adjusted hours as needed to meet operational demands.
