Job Summary
Red White & Blue Thrift is hiring a Training and Communications Manager to lead the design and delivery of impactful learning experiences and communication strategies that drive performance and connection across our store operations. This role sits at the intersection of field enablement, leadership development, and internal engagement. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a passion for empowering teams, storytelling, and driving operational outcomes through training and communication.
This remote role offers the flexibility to work from home while remaining closely connected to our store teams through up to 25% travel. To support strong alignment with store operations and field teams, candidates must reside in one of our key markets where Red White & Blue Thrift operates retail locations, such as Southern New Jersey, the Tampa or Miami areas, Denver, Los Angeles, or San Diego. Living within reasonable commuting distance to one of these markets ensures regular in-person collaboration, store visits, and the opportunity to pilot new initiatives and gather direct field feedback.
Training Strategy & Delivery
- Design and facilitate impactful in-person and virtual trainings that elevate operational performance and team capability.
- Build structured onboarding and development paths for team members and store leaders; maintain and optimize them in our Learning Management System (LMS).
- Continuously improve training programs based on regional feedback, store performance data, and employee engagement insights.
- Lead operational, service, and compliance training initiatives that align with company standards and improve consistency across stores.
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, HR, and other departments to ensure training content supports evolving tools, systems, and business goals.
- Implement training effectiveness measurement strategies using a variety of metrics: onboarding completion, audit scores, employee surveys, operational results, and in-store observations.
Internal Communications & Field Engagement
- Develop and execute field-facing communication strategies to ensure clear, consistent, and accessible messaging on company priorities and initiatives.
- Curate and distribute a recurring employee newsletter that highlights operational updates, team recognition, and key wins across stores.
- Produce toolkits and supporting materials—e.g., FAQs, talking points, quick guides—to support successful rollout of new programs and changes.
- Tailor messaging for diverse audiences, including store associates, managers, regional leaders, and corporate partners.
- Create channels for field feedback and insight-sharing to continuously improve communication approaches and foster a two-way dialogue between stores and corporate.
- Represent the voice of field employees in cross-functional conversations, ensuring communications are relevant and actionable at all levels.
- Support employee engagement strategies by using communication and training as tools to improve connection, recognition, and shared purpose.
Operational Rollouts & Change Management
- Lead the training and communication planning for new system launches, operational changes, and company-wide initiatives.
- Coordinate with functional teams to ensure readiness materials align with project milestones and are delivered on time.
- Monitor change adoption and engagement through metrics and field feedback, refining messaging and training delivery as needed.
Video & Event Support
- Plan, script, and produce short-form video content to support training and internal messaging from leadership.
- Contribute to the facilitation of regional meetings, conferences, and virtual town halls.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in training, instructional design, internal communications, or field support—retail or operations experience preferred.
- Strong facilitation and storytelling skills; able to engage live and virtual audiences across all organizational levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Workspace, LMS platforms, and design tools (e.g., Canva, video editing platforms, or similar).
- Track record of building structured learning and communication programs that drive measurable outcomes.
- Skilled at navigating cross-functional collaboration and adapting messaging for diverse audiences.
- Highly organized, solutions-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer (up to 8 hours/day).
- Ability to travel periodically to store locations and training events, which may involve walking through large retail environments or standing for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally (e.g., training materials, laptops, or event supplies).
- Ability to speak clearly and audibly during presentations, whether in person or via virtual platforms.
- Visual acuity required to create and edit documents, view training content, and assess visual merchandising or operational training materials.
- May need to adjust to varied store environments, including climate fluctuations, moderate noise, and active floor traffic, during on-site visits.
- Must be comfortable using standard office and multimedia equipment (e.g., laptops, projectors, cameras).
