JOB PURPOSE: The Human Resources Specialist – Training & Development is responsible for supporting and coordinating employee training and workforce development initiatives within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role partners with leadership, supervisors, and subject matter experts to develop, deliver, and maintain effective training programs that support operational excellence, employee growth, safety, and compliance with company and regulatory standards. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.
AUTHORITY: All employees have the authority to stop operations/production for the following three reasons: 1) a quality defect, 2) an unsafe act, or 3) a health hazard.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the development and implementation of plant-wide training programs.

Deliver, or coordinate, training for new hires, cross-training initiatives, upskilling programs, and safety compliance requirements.

Coordinate and schedule internal and external training sessions.

Partner with supervisors, Group Leads, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify departmental training needs and skill gaps.

Support organizational training and employee development initiatives to enhance workforce capability and performance.

Promote continuous improvement by encouraging employee development and ongoing learning opportunities.

Oversee and direct Training Specialists
-
Support onboarding and orientation processes for new manufacturing employees.
-
Assist departments in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees.

Coordinate specialized training with equipment vendors and external providers as needed.

Maintain accurate training records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Ensure compliance with OSHA, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other applicable standards.

Track employee certifications, licenses, qualifications, and renewal requirements.

Monitor training effectiveness and recommend improvements to training programs, materials, and processes.

Assist in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training materials.

Support audits, compliance reviews, and reporting related to training and employee qualifications.

Collaborate with operations and leadership teams to standardize training processes and improve workforce readiness.

Assist in processing new hires in ADP and internal HR systems.

Complete onboarding documentation and ensure accuracy of employee records.

Coordinate and monitor pre-employment drug screenings and background checks.

Support new hire orientation and onboarding activities to ensure positive employee experience.

Promote positive employee relations and support a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Maintain confidentiality of employee information and HR records.

Ensure compliance with company policies, labor regulations, and employment laws.

Assist with HR reporting, audits, and other administrative duties as assigned.

Support additional HR initiatives and plant projects as needed.

Assists department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience, Competencies and Education

Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2+ years of experience in training, human resources, manufacturing, or workforce development preferred.

Preferred:

Experience with ADP or similar HRIS/payroll systems preferred.

Experience in automotive manufacturing or industrial environments preferred.

Proficiency in HRIS software (e.g., ADP).
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
