Training & Development Coordinator

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time, on-site, Training & Development Coordinator to assess the training needs of the organization. The Training and Development Coordinator will design, implement, and enhance training programs that foster professional growth, engagement, and operational excellence. The Training & Development Coordinator earns a competitive salary of $71,682.31-$91,394.94/year based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. We also offer a retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 2:1 employer match, life insurance, disability, access to the City's recreation fitness center, employee assistance program, educational assistance, 11 paid holidays and 2 designated paid holidays, paid vacation, sick leave, and an active wellness program focusing on physical, mental, and financial health.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS THE TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

• Design and Implement Training Programs: Develop and facilitate engaging, department-specific and citywide training programs that align with the City's goals and employee development needs.
• Innovation in Learning: Utilize creative and cutting-edge training methods, including technology-based solutions, hands-on workshops, and interactive learning experiences.
• Agility & Flexibility: Adapt training approaches and content as organizational needs evolve, ensuring continuous improvement and relevance.
• Performance Support & Development: Partner with leadership to provide coaching, performance management training, and development resources that enhance employee growth and efficiency.
• Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy and effectiveness in training materials, documentation, and reporting on training outcomes and compliance.
• Emotional Intelligence & Engagement: Foster an inclusive learning environment, recognizing diverse learning styles, and addressing unique employee and departmental training needs with empathy and strategic insight.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with department leaders to identify skill gaps, recommend training solutions, and evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives.
• Training Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of training participation, feedback, and effectiveness metrics, ensuring training compliance and continuous enhancement.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for streamlining training processes and implementing innovative solutions to enhance employee learning experiences.

Additional Duties

• Coordinate and lead LEAN initiatives.
• Responsible for the management of the Learning Management System (LMS)
• Research and recommend training materials and methods.
• Maintain in-house training equipment.
• Communicate with HRBP's and Managers to ensure all needs are met.
• Assist with recognition programs.
• Host New Employee Experience and partner with HR Business Partners and HR Generalist to create a successful onboarding experience.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in human resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in training and development, instructional design, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related role.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in training technology, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning platforms, and virtual training tools.
• Ability to analyze training effectiveness and implement continuous improvements.
• Municipal experience a plus.
