Training Instructor - Suppression Systems

Position Description:

Our company is looking for an ideal candidate to support the technical training functions of the FED Learning Center.

The candidate’s core responsibility will be to perform technical Hands-On and Virtual Live training for the FED Learning Center. The ideal candidate will have product and market experience in portable fire extinguishers, kitchen suppression systems and exit and emergency lights. This position would work with our Training Operations Manager regarding logistics of classes, help write new content (even if not an expert but can provide direction on the process and research), licensing/certification/CEUs, and other duties as deemed appropriate.

Qualifications:

1. Actual field experience is preferred.

2. OEM certifications are preferred. Ability to get OEM certifications a must.

3. Must have the ability to teach and convey technical information in a manner that promotes learning.

4. Must have experience with and understanding of NFPA recommendations, the varied AHJ requirements, and enforcement practices.

5. Must have the ability to present information on screen in a classroom simultaneously with facilitating the hands-on practice on equipment by classroom attendees.

6. Must demonstrate the ability to travel independently while professionally representing the company.

7. Training disciplines to include: Kitchen Suppression Systems, Portable Fire Extinguishers and Exit and Emergency Lighting. More varied experience welcome.

8. Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to operate standard office software (e.g., word processing and email).

Primary Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to:

· Teach at least 80% of the annual workdays with the remaining dedicated to equipment maintenance, and new content development.

· Impart and/or refresh best practices required of a Fire Safety Field Technician to conduct work in the fire and life safety industry

· Emphasize the importance of understanding and following fire and life safety standards and local codes

· Emphasize the importance of following all OEM requirements.

· Conduct training sessions covering industry requirements with an overview on a variety of equipment

· Facilitate attendees’ participation of working on equipment in a risk-free environment

· Remain current on developments in products, standards and codes

· Enable attendees to solve problems concerning "how to" perform specific tasks while in the field

· Internal and external communication

· Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager

· Assist with customer support by responding to inquiries and providing information about products or training services.

Requirements:

· Ability to travel – see travel requirements below

· Proficient in most Social Media (Facebook, Tik Tok, Instagram, LinkedIn) and willing to actively engage in community platforms and relevant posts

· Effective Communication Skills

· Strong Organizational Skills and detail oriented

· Demonstrate professionalism at all times as a representative of the FED Learning Center

· Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

· Confidentiality in sensitive business information

· Ability to understand business concepts, product knowledge, markets, customers, position, strategy and competitors for each BSS companies

· Ability to adapt to new technology

· Self-Starter

· Demonstrated analytical/critical thinking skills

· 5+ years applicable work experience preferred

· 2+ years of business travel preferred

REQUIRED Travel:

The candidate for this position must be able to adapt to a flexible schedule that, depending on location and course offerings, will involve travel.

Expected travel is 50-80%. Training days are typically from 8-5pm with pre-training set up and post training resetting. O

Most travel is by plane and usually Monday – Friday with occasional weekends.

Travel details including locations and requirements are subject to change as the program and market develops.

Travel Expenses paid per company policy. Full expense policy to be outlined by HR.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
