About the Role
We’re looking for a Transactional Attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. In this role, you’ll work side-by-side with senior leadership to negotiate the agreements that drive our business forward — from vendor and customer contracts to IP licenses, M&A deals, and more.
This isn’t a maintenance-mode legal position. You’ll be the go-to resource for commercial legal strategy, helping us grow responsibly while moving fast. It’s a unique opportunity to define what “great” looks like for an in-house legal function at a growing company with a startup mindset.
A Day in the Life
- Review a manufacturing supply agreement in the morning.
- Advise the executive team on legal risks tied to a new strategic partnership in the afternoon.
- Support M&A due diligence, integration planning, and contract negotiations.
- Shape internal processes to ensure the legal function scales with company growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
- Vendor and customer contracts
- NDAs, IP licenses, and supply agreements
- Channel partner and distribution agreements
- Support M&A and other strategic transactions (due diligence, integration, documentation).
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on legal risks and business strategy.
- Develop and improve contract templates, legal playbooks, and internal documentation.
- Build scalable legal processes and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations — with emphasis on manufacturing, technology, and defense contracting.
- Manage outside counsel and coordinate specialized legal support.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- 5+ years of transactional legal experience, preferably in-house or with exposure to fast-growing companies.
- Strong background in commercial contracts, IP licensing, and M&A transactions.
- Experience with manufacturing, technology, or defense contracting is a plus.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and business judgment skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
Characteristics of the Role
- Hands-on Leadership: Working independently to execute departmental needs while also leading the team.
- Process Improvement: Consuming information, generating concise results, and always improving.
- Optimism: Getting energy from getting to the root cause of issues and coming up with creative solutions.
- Proactive: You anticipate issues before they arise and jump in to solve them without being asked.
- All-In: You treat this like a career, not a gig. You want to grow, stretch, and own more over time
- Adaptable: You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where priorities shift quickly — and you help bring clarity when they do
- Detail-Obsessed: You sweat the small stuff so others can focus on the big picture
- Culture-Builder: You represent our values in how you show up, support others, and keep the engine running smoothly
