JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS Translator

To convert written material from English to Arabic and vice versa, ensuring that the translated version is as clear and accurate as the source language text. Responsibilities include researching legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation, proofreading and editing final translated versions. Review of translation and quality assurance of final edits.

  1. Delivery of translation services to support business requirements, including contract preparation, amendment, summaries, memorandums and forms either electronically or as hard copy.
  2. Translates and edits professional materials from English into Arabic and vice versa.
  3. Translates random certificates, licenses and applications as required.
  4. Documents and files translations.
  5. Provides a grammatical, well expressed final version of the translated text, usually as a word processed document, and proofs and edits the final translated versions.
  6. Researches specialized terminology for conversion into English, ensuring proper conversion of meaning and concept.
  7. Reads through original material and rewrites it in Arabic, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained.
  8. Uses specialist dictionaries, thesauruses, glossaries and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used.
  9. Uses the internet and email as research tools throughout the translation process.
  10. Establishes individual and collective work plans, including objectives, timelines and milestone reviews for translation tasks.
  11. Ensures that all products are of the highest possible quality consistent with time available and resources and are delivered on time.
  12. Prepares internal and external correspondences.
  13. Performs other responsibilities as directed by senior management team.
