Job Title: Transport Manager – Heavy Machinery

Job Purpose

To oversee and coordinate the daily operations of heavy machinery transportation including scheduling, route planning, equipment loading/unloading, driver supervision, and ensuring compliance with UAE transport regulations. The role ensures the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of heavy equipment to various sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise the movement of heavy machinery, including cranes, excavators, bulldozers, etc.
• Manage fleet schedules, driver assignments, and transport routes to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure that all transport activities comply with UAE transport laws, safety regulations, and internal company policies.
• Inspect heavy transport vehicles and machinery for safety, maintenance, and roadworthiness before dispatch.
• Liaise with maintenance teams to schedule regular inspections and repairs for vehicles and trailers.
• Supervise and train drivers/operators on safety standards, proper equipment handling, and route management.
• Prepare and maintain records of transportation activities, including trip logs, fuel usage, maintenance, and incident reports.
• Monitor GPS tracking systems and maintain real-time knowledge of fleet movement and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate with project/site managers for timely delivery and retrieval of equipment as per project timelines.
• Ensure proper documentation (permits, customs clearance, etc.) for heavy equipment transport, especially for inter-emirate movement.
• Handle emergency situations, breakdowns, or delays with effective problem-solving and communication.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory transport role, preferably handling heavy machinery in the UAE or GCC region.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of UAE road transport laws and heavy vehicle regulations.
• Familiarity with RTA/DOT regulations and procedures for heavy load permits.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Good understanding of vehicle maintenance, loading procedures, and safety standards.
• Proficiency in logistics software and GPS tracking systems.
• Effective communication skills in English (Arabic/Hindi/Urdu is a plus).

Licenses:

• Valid UAE Driving License (preferably heavy vehicle license or knowledge thereof).

Working Conditions

• On-call availability for urgent transport needs.
• Field/site visits required.
• May involve night or weekend shifts based on operational demands.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED6,000.00 - AED7,000.00 per month
