Transport Planner

Responsibilities:

  • This role requires contributing to a variety of transport planning studies including large scale transport master plan assessments, traffic impact studies or multi-disciplinary planning projects in the public and private sectors.
  • Understanding of transport planning, traffic engineering and travel demand theory.
  • Project experience in the Middle East and familiarity with local transport planning standards and practices.
  • Practical understanding of the role and importance of transport planning in development access and citywide mobility plans.
  • Experience in undertaking junction analysis to support the traffic impact assessments.
  • Contribute to preparation of reports including existing conditions analyses, trip generation, junction analysis and parking assessments.
  • Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both written and spoken.
  • Must be able to learn and retain new skills quickly from a variety of sources.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision.
  • Some experience project/financial management.
  • Competence to assist in growing the Atkins Transport Planning Business as well as to sell Atkins services generally.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in civil engineering or equivalent is a must.
  • Master s degree in transport planning or equivalent field is desirable.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in traffic engineering and transport planning.
  • Knowledge of Middle East and International Transport Planning standards and procedures.
  • Has worked within a team.
  • Experience in traffic engineering and transport planning projects across UAE.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of various authority guidelines and manuals in UAE.
  • Experience with traffic engineering software (SYNCHRO / SIDRA / HCS).
  • Understanding of transport modelling software (STEAM + / PTV VISUM / PYV VISSIM).
  • Can work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and personal skills.
