Transport Refrigeration (Reefer Unit) Maintenance Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Transport Refrigeration (Reefer Unit) Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting refrigeration units used in transport vehicles to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards. Your expertise will help keep our fleet running smoothly, minimizing downtime and ensuring the integrity of temperature-sensitive cargo. Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on reefer units, including ammonia refrigeration systems and HVAC components.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on refrigeration compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, sensors, and control systems.
  • Utilize HVAC design principles and plumbing knowledge to optimize unit performance and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct field service operations including appliance repair, equipment maintenance, welding repairs, and component replacements on transport refrigeration units.
  • Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs efficiently.
  • Maintain detailed service records, logs of repairs performed, parts used, and system diagnostics for compliance and future reference.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a service technician with a focus on refrigeration systems, HVAC/R equipment, or property maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in appliance repair, plumbing, welding, boiler systems, or similar fields.
  • Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration systems used in transport or industrial settings is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read schematics and technical manuals; experience with HVAC design principles is a plus.
  • Proficiency using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters; experience with electrical troubleshooting is essential.
  • Prior field service experience working on transport or commercial refrigeration units preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Pay: $21.00 - $49.50 per hour
