JOB TITLE: Transportation Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Transportation Coordinator at Jewish Family Service of Greater Harrisburg (JFS) plays a vital role in supporting transportation needs of seniors in our community. This full-time position oversees the daily operations of the transportation program, including scheduling, training, safety, client intake, and community collaboration.

The role requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, a commitment to social service values, and the ability to connect clients with additional resources both within JFS and the broader community. This position is ideal for someone passionate about human service, community engagement, and community support services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan and schedule transportation routes and deliveries.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation laws and safety standards.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance and conduct daily safety inspections.
  • Maintain accurate preventative maintenance and trip records.
  • Optimize route schedules for efficiency and customer service.
  • Train and supervise other transportation staff.
  • Utilize computer systems for database management, reporting, and communication.
  • Maintain a valid PA driver’s license, clean driving record, and access to a registered vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Other responsibilities as requested, including support for community outreach events and special distributions.

Position Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Experience in customer service, and coordination of support services, especially for seniors.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage schedules, and daily routes.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including spreadsheets and databases, and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, clean driving record, access to a registered vehicle for occasional work-related travel, and must pass all required background clearances.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Requires flexible hours to include evenings and weekends.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
