Primary Purpose
Directs and supervises all transportation activity for outbound deliveries from Mountaire production facilities, this includes supervising Dress Haul Driver activity and their needs and requirements. They focus on improving on-time delivery and customer service while facing logistical issues such as capacity, customer demands and managing carriers. They are responsible for maintaining the appropriate number of assets at each Plant (trailers, trucks, etc.).
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Directly coordinates and supervises transportation activity for outbound deliveries. This includes assigning shipments to carriers and maintaining working relationships with those carriers.
- Dispatches/Supervises the company fleet, plans and schedules delivery appointments and works with outside freezers to deliver all inbound freight and outbound domestic shipments/releases to Plants. They will be responsible for the planning and utilization of our company fleet.
- Monitors yard inventories and trailer capacity to support shipping and production, coordinates pick-up and delivery of inbound materials for Procurement, tracks deliveries and communicates delays or issues to Sales and customers.
- Responsible for managing Mountaire drivers, providing load information, directions, fuel cards and providing codes for lumper fees. Manages schedules, approves Paid Time Off (PTO) and handles any issues or complaints or feedback.
Serves as the point of contact to ensure drivers' are compliant with Department of Transportation's (DOT) drug tests and physicals and Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) are legal and accurate and dispatches accordingly.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 - 4 years' relevant experience.
- Logistics/Dispatch experience.
- Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) certification and/or Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) certification is a plus.
