Position Summary
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and overseeing transportation services for clients residing in HopeBridge Recovery’s supportive housing and participating in substance use disorder treatment programs. This role ensures clients have safe, reliable, and timely transportation to treatment services, medical appointments, employment, court obligations, and other approved recovery-related activities. The Transportation Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting treatment engagement, accountability, and continuity of care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Transportation Coordination & Scheduling
- Coordinate and schedule transportation for clients to treatment services, medical appointments, employment, court appearances, and approved recovery-related activities.• Develop and maintain daily and weekly transportation schedules in coordination with clinical and housing staff.• Ensure transportation services align with clients’ treatment plans, housing requirements, and program expectations.
Client Support & Accountability
- Communicate transportation expectations, pick-up times, and behavioral standards to clients.• Monitor client attendance and report missed rides, late arrivals, or non-compliance to appropriate staff.• Support a recovery-oriented and respectful transportation environment consistent with agency policies.
Driver & Vehicle Oversight
- Coordinate with drivers, staff, or contracted transportation providers to ensure coverage and efficiency.• Ensure vehicles are operated safely and in accordance with agency policies.• Monitor vehicle usage, mileage logs, and fuel usage as required.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure transportation operations comply with agency policies, insurance requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.• Report and document accidents, incidents, or safety concerns according to agency procedures.• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 during all transportation-related activities.
Documentation & Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate transportation logs, schedules, attendance records, and incident reports.• Track transportation-related data to support reporting, auditing, and program evaluation needs.
Communication & Collaboration
- Serve as a liaison between clients, housing staff, clinical teams, and transportation providers.• Communicate schedule changes, delays, or service issues promptly to staff and clients.• Participate in team meetings as needed to support coordinated care and housing operations.
Additional Duties
- Perform other tasks, responsibilities, and job duties as assigned based on program needs, regulatory requirements, or organizational priorities.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.• Additional coursework or training in human services, logistics, or transportation coordination preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in transportation coordination, logistics, housing services, or human services preferred.• Experience working with individuals in recovery or in behavioral health settings strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of substance use disorder recovery principles and supportive housing expectations.• Strong organizational, scheduling, and time-management skills.• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and staff.• Ability to manage changing schedules and respond to urgent transportation needs.• Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Work is performed in office, residential, and vehicle-based settings.• Must be able to sit, stand, and move throughout the workday and assist with coordination during client transport activities.• Evening and/or weekend hours may be required to meet client and program transportation needs.
Performance Evaluation
Performance is evaluated annually by the Program Director or Housing Manager based on transportation reliability, scheduling efficiency, documentation accuracy, safety compliance, communication effectiveness, and adherence to HopeBridgeRecovery’s policies and recovery-oriented principles.
