Salary Range: $90,000 – $100,000

Position Summary:
Fast-paced growing transportation company that provides transportation services to the IDD population and NEMT services across NYC is seeking its Transportation Director to lead the company to its next chapter of growth. The new director will lead a staff of over 50 employees and manage a fleet of more than 35 15 passenger vans. The Transportation Director will report directly to the president of the transportation company and will work closely with the C-suite of the parent company. The Transportation Director is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the organization’s transportation services. This role manages daily transportation activities, supervises staff, and ensures proper maintenance and utilization of the fleet. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong leadership skills, and is committed to operational excellence. This position requires availability on an on-call, as-needed basis to support organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct and manage all transportation operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance
• Oversee fleet management, including scheduling, inspections, and preventative maintenance of all vehicles
• Supervise, train, and evaluate transportation staff, including drivers and support personnel
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve operational performance and safety
• Coordinate routing, scheduling, and logistics to meet service demands
• Monitor budgets, control costs, and ensure effective resource allocation
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations
• Respond to emergencies and provide on-call support as needed
• Collaborate with HR, Intake, Recruitment, IT, Quality Assurance, and Accounting departments, as well as program directors of the various day habilitation sites.
• Will actively seek and contract new clients to expand our reach of transportation services.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years proven experience in NYC school bus transportation senior level management, fleet management, and logistics.
• Strong background in fleet maintenance and vehicle management
• Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment
• NEMT dispatching and billing experience a plus
• Demonstrated management and supervisory experience
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands
• Willingness to be on call, as needed, to support operational requirements

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Experience:

• NYC school bus transportation, fleet management, & logistics: 10 years (Required)
• NEMT dispatching and billing : 1 year (Preferred)
