Transportation Dispatcher/Coordinator - Mandarin/Cantonese Speaking

As a Driver/Program Aide, you are responsible for safely transporting clients to and from the center, ensuring client safety during transport, assisting with entering and exiting the vehicle, securing mobility devices, and adhering to traffic laws. In between driving schedules, you are responsible for assisting the activity department with daily activities, engaging participants with said activities, maintaining a safe environment at the center and interacting and supporting participants with their needs.

Key Responsibilities and Duties as a Driver:

• Responsible for maintaining his/her vehicle's schedule of transportation to and from the center, including meticulous record keeping of pick-up and drop-off of participants.
• Assists the participant out of the home and in-and-out of the vehicle, as necessary.
• Reports to Administrative Assistant/Program Director, immediately, if a participant does not appear for previously scheduled transportation.
• Makes efforts to determine if the participant is helpless and unable to answer the door or phone, or has gone away for the day.
• Keeps a maintenance schedule of the vehicle, including documented safety checks of the vehicle security

Secondary Responsibility/Duty as a Dispatcher:

• Develop and maintain daily pickup and drop-off schedules and route plans.
• Dispatch drivers and monitor route progress to ensure timeliness and efficiency.
• Serve as the main communication point for drivers, staff, and participants regarding transportation updates or delays.
• Maintain accurate transportation logs, attendance, and route records for compliance and billing purposes.
• Handle same-day transportation requests and changes within operational limits.
• Collaborate with the transportation supervisor and other departments to ensure smooth operations and participant satisfaction.
• Report and document any incidents, delays, or vehicle maintenance issues.
• Assist in training new drivers and ensuring adherence to safety and operational policies.

Qualifications:

• Fluent Mandarin is REQUIRED, Cantonese/Vietnamese is a PLUS
• EXCEL fluency is REQUIRED
• Valid Driver's License: All drivers should possess a valid and appropriate driver's license for the vehicle they are operating.
• Clean Driving Record: Drivers should have a clean driving record, typically defined by no major traffic violations or accidents within a specified timeframe.
• Medical Fitness: Ensuring that drivers meet medical fitness standards, including vision and hearing requirements, to operate vehicles safely.
• Training and Certification: Completion of relevant training programs, including defensive driving, passenger assistance, and first aid/CPR certification.
• Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with and adherence to local, state, and federal transportation regulations and requirements relevant to transporting individuals in a care setting.
• Background Check: Comprehensive background checks should be conducted to ensure the absence of any criminal history that might compromise participant safety.
• Good Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with participants, caregivers, and staff to ensure a safe and comfortable transportation experience.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Ensuring that vehicles used for transportation are well-maintained, regularly inspected, and comply with safety standards.
• Experience and References: Prior experience in a similar role or positive references verifying the driver's reliability and professionalism.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
