Job Title: Transportation Driver, Part-Time
Dept: Clarksville, TN
Schedule: Weekends
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Drives vehicle from individual or central loading area to social services or rehabilitation center, training location, job site, or other destination according to assigned schedule

Assists disabled passengers into and out of vehicle; Secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip

Completes pre-departure safety check on vehicle driven that includes: checking oil, water and gasoline levels; wear on tires; lights, wipers and heat/air in working order

Cleans and services vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories, and notifies supervisor of needed repairs. Assists in maintaining a clean, neat and safe vehicle for transporting

Keeps records of trips and behavior of passengers, and communicates pertinent information to appropriate staff

Adheres to State and local speed limits and adjusts speed according to weather conditions. Only uses cellular phone when not operating vehicle unless using hands free device

Follows all Federal, State and local laws governing the operation of a motor vehicle and the transporting of individuals

Refrains from the use of alcohol and other mood-altering chemicals during the times of operation of a motor vehicle used to transport patients

The employee understands and practices Universal Precautions at all times
-
Completes pre-admission screening forms on prospective clients calling after hours
-
Inspects common areas and ensures they are maintained each shift. This includes rest rooms, staging room, linen closet, laundry facilities, hallways, etc

Locks all outside doors and provides night time security watch during non-business hours

Work a flexible schedule as needed for site coverage.
Qualifications

Some computer skills. Ability to type 30 wpm

Able to communicate both verbally and in writing
-
Works cooperatively with case management team members and BVI support staff
-
Flexible in days and hours available for work
-
Demonstrates supportive, positive approach towards homeless residents
-
Dedicated to compliance with BVI policies and procedures, and adheres to Staff Code of Ethics
-
Keeps a current CPR and First Aid certifications
-
Pass Background Check and Drug Screen required
-
Valid TN D.L. with "F" endorsement required
Education and/or Experience
-
Six (6) months experience working in chemical dependency or related field, or educational equivalent, preferred
-
Must have safe driving record, required
-
High School Diploma or GED, preferred
