Summary
The Transportation Fleet Coordinator executes daily transportation operations, ensuring fleet readiness, real-time route coordination, and compliance with DOT and organizational standards. This role supports safe and reliable services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by managing drivers, addressing mechanical issues, and maintaining audit-ready operations using systems such as Samsara, REI, and STTARS.
Essential Job Functions
Execute daily transportation operations, including route coordination and real-time adjustments
Dispatch drivers and modify routes to maintain on-time performance and operational efficiency
Monitor transportation activity and respond to delays, breakdowns, or service disruptions
Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting on fleet vehicles, including identifying issues related to battery, fluids, tires, and warning indicators
Assess vehicle issues and determine appropriate action (on-site resolution, removal from service, or escalation for repair)
Coordinate vehicle repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure fleet reliability and safety
Conduct routine pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections in alignment with DOT and organizational safety standards
Ensure all vehicles meet Department of Transportation (DOT), state, and local regulatory requirements, including proper equipment and operational readiness
Utilize transportation systems (including Samsara, REI, and STTARS) to monitor fleet activity, track performance, and support compliance requirements
Track vehicle availability and coordinate fleet usage to minimize downtime
Support drivers in the field by providing direction during mechanical or operational issues
Ensure safe and reliable transportation services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)
Communicate effectively and professionally with individuals served, caregivers, and staff, ensuring a respectful and supportive environment
Monitor fuel usage, mileage, and overall vehicle performance
Identify, report, and support resolution of compliance or operational deficiencies
Assist with movement and transport of fleet vehicles as needed
Education and Experience Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent.
An associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, business administration, or a related field preferred
Previous experience in transportation, fleet operations, and related field preferred
Familiarity with Samsara, REI, STTARS, or similar fleet/compliance tracking systems
A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to pass the DOTD physical required.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Able to lift up to 25 pounds
Able to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time
Able to operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time
Standard office environment with occasional travel, including moving vehicles and driving routes when necessary

The pay range for this role is:
19 - 19 USD per hour(Fontana)
