The Transportation Site Lead will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our transportation site(s). They will be responsible for developing supportive relationships with drivers, coordinating timely pick-ups and deliveries, and maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. Their role will involve monitoring driver performance to drive safety, operational improvements, and enhanced decision-making. The lead will provide driver performance feedback to management and ensure a safe, clean, compliant site environment.
Reports to: Vice President of Transport
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and facilitate the scheduling, routing, and dispatch of drivers and equipment to ensure timely and efficient pickups and deliveries. Assist drivers in finding rail cars as required.
- Monitor transportation site activities to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure that no contamination incidents occur.
- Perform trailer preloading operations at rail yard facilities, along with local delivering/shuttling Frontier Transport trailers, as required.
- Ensure accurate records of transportation activities, including driver logs, incident reports and other trip documentation. Sign loading reports as required.
- Ensure drivers have and utilize standard driver tools, fittings and other operational supplies, as well as maintain a clean rail yard.
- Ensure all rail cars are properly sealed at all times.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Oversee equipment inspections and ensure safety protocols are adhered to, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Proactively identify and manage risks related to compliance, safety, and business exposure.
- Build and maintain supportive, professional relationships with drivers to foster a positive work culture.
- Assist with driver recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training to support professional growth.
- Propose and Implement processes to enhance efficiency, safety, and overall performance.
- Benchmark company transportation services against other best practices in the local industry.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to direct transportation operations effectively at sites.
- Strong knowledge of all pneumatic and tractor equipment, troubleshooting, maintenance and best practices.
- Knowledge of contract and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Comfortable working with diverse stakeholders, including employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and external partners and customers.
- Computer literate with proficiency in relevant transportation, principally Samsara. Familiarity with office software encouraged.
- CDL Class A and satisfactory background check.
- Valid TWIC card.
- A cleanliness and procedure-driven mindset with a strong emphasis on disciplined routine.
Pay: From $88,000.00 per year
