Transportation Specialist - Driver

Ricks AMT has proudly served Michigan communities for over 20 years. As we expand into our wheelchair-accessible fleet, we are seeking dependable, compassionate professionals to join our growing team.

Position Overview

As a Transportation Specialist, you will safely transport clients to and from medical appointments while providing professional, respectful, and compassionate assistance.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring reliability, professionalism, and physical capability.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate wheelchair-accessible vans and ramps
• Properly secure wheelchairs using tie-down systems (training provided)
• Assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle
• Push and maneuver wheelchair clients as needed
• Maintain punctual arrival for scheduled medical appointments
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintain cleanliness
• Follow all state traffic laws and company safety policies

What We’re Looking For

✔ Reliable and punctual — attendance is critical
✔ Professional appearance and respectful communication
✔ Comfortable working with elderly and disabled passengers
✔ Physically able to push wheelchairs and assist clients safely
✔ Calm under pressure and safety-focused

Preferred experience:

• NEMT driving
• Shuttle, bus, or school bus driving
• Healthcare or caregiving background

Requirements

• Valid Michigan Chauffeur’s License
• Clean driving record (MVR required)
• Pass background check and drug screening
• Willingness to complete wheelchair securement training (provided)
• Must be able to lift/push 50+ lbs
