Transportation Supervisor

This position leads all aspects of Gleaners’ transportation operations ensuring the safe, efficient and timely movement of food purchases and donations, and distributions. Last year, Gleaners distributed 53 million pounds of nutritious food staples to a network of over 300 partner agencies and distribution sites throughout SE Michigan. This role is responsible for managing the drivers, routing, compliance and logistics coordination to support Gleaners’ mission. The work environment is fast-paced, requiring a leader who can manage competing priorities with a team orientation, excellent judgement and strong decision-making skills.

What you will do

• Supervise and coordinate daily transportation operations, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to schedules
• Monitor vehicle maintenance and compliance with safety regulations to promote a safe working environment
• Train, mentor, and motivate team members to achieve operational excellence and foster a collaborative atmosphere
• Analyze transportation metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions

Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in direct truck fleet operations management required
• Managerial experience with demonstrated team and service orientation required
• CDL class B or above licensure desired
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and fleet safety standards required
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across departments
