Transporter (3rd shift)

Overview:
The Transporter NE is responsible for the safe, timely, and respectful movement of patients, equipment, and essential items throughout the hospital. This role ensures accurate communication with clinical teams, maintains a clean and safe environment, and supports patient comfort during transport. The Transporter also adheres to hospital protocols, safety standards, and documentation procedures, contributing to smooth hospital operations and a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities:
Personal
  • Safely transports patients to and from hospital areas and departments utilizing proper equipment (wheelchair or cart) appropriate to the patient’s condition and lifting techniques.
  • Promptly transports patient to destination and notifies patient arrival to designated individual.
  • Perform patient transfers with approved transfer mobility equipment when appropriate.
  • Successfully completes hospital-wide orientation, annual hospital competencies and department/unit specific competencies.
  • For the safety of our patients and co-workers, St. Luke’s Hospital requires seasonal and job-related vaccinations. This is reviewed regularly during periodic health assessments.
  • Patient transporters may transport contrast media to inpatients, ED patients 6000-44
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Team
  • Maintains cleanliness of equipment and workspace and reports equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
  • Understand requirements for student supervision as outlined in the Student Supervision policy.
  • Support the School of Radiology educational process.
  • Maintain current knowledge of School of Radiology policies, procedures, and student progress.
  • Communicate with School of Radiology faculty on student-related progress and issues.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within three (3) months from date of hire.
  • Must complete on the job training.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to understand written, verbal, and other sensory stimuli.
  • Must have the ability to analyze written and spoken English.
  • Must be able to cope effectively with stressful situations and time constraints.
  • Must be able to interpret scientific data in a logical and coherent manner.
  • Must be able to independently solve problems and follow detailed written and verbal instruction.
  • Must be able to work well with all customers and co-workers.
  • Must demonstrate a cooperative, courteous, and dependable working performance.
  • Must possess high integrity and always maintain confidentiality.
