Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT/MLS) to join a busy hospital laboratory in Westminster, CO (80023-9206). This role requires strong technical expertise across core laboratory departments, including blood bank, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Position Details

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT/MLS)
Location: Westminster, CO 80023-9206
Pay: $1,400–$1,500 Gross Weekly
Shift: Afternoon/Evening – 8-hour shifts (Primary shift 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM)
Employment Type: Contract
Radius Requirement: 60 miles (Driver’s License must be submitted)
Orientation: Clinicians must be in-state during orientation week, even if initial modules are remote

Lab Assistant Support: None

This is a high-functioning core laboratory environment requiring strong generalist skills. Candidates must be comfortable working independently and maintaining high accuracy standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform testing across all core laboratory areas including Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Blood Bank (no Microbiology)
• Perform and interpret blood bank testing (recent blood bank experience required)
• Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, including:
• Chemistry: EXL Dimension
• Hematology: Sysmex XN
• Blood Bank: ECHO
• Urinalysis: Clinitek
• Coagulation: Sysmex CS 2500
• Accurately document results in the LIS/EMR system (Epic)
• Ensure quality control, calibration, and maintenance of lab equipment
• Follow laboratory safety, infection control, and regulatory standards
• Maintain accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborate effectively with laboratory and clinical staff

RequirementsEducation

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field

Certifications

• MLT or MLS certification required (ASCP or AMT accepted)
• BLS not required (no patient contact or phlebotomy involved)

Accepted Certifications:

• Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) via ASCP
• Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) via AMT
• Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) via ASCP
• Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) via AMT

Experience

• Must have recent blood bank experience
• Experience working as a generalist in core lab areas
• Experience using Epic LIS system preferred

Scheduling & Additional Information

• Primary Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM
• Additional Shift Options:
• 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM
• 2:30 PM – 11:30 PM
• 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Required
• Call Requirement: None
• Scheduling: Assigned shifts with opportunity to pick up additional shifts
• Scrubs: Any professional color
• Orientation: Department-specific orientation required

Pay: $1,400.00 - $1,500.00 per week
