NurseAmerica is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Watertown, NY. This role requires a clinically strong OR nurse capable of working independently, handling high-stress environments, and delivering exceptional perioperative patient care.

Provide safe and effective care for patients throughout the perioperative process

Assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures

Perform circulating and scrubbing duties as needed

Maintain a sterile, aseptic environment and ensure adherence to all safety protocols

Recognize and respond to patient complications and emergencies
-
Utilize clinical judgment to assess patient needs—clinical, educational, emotional, and spiritual

Manage and operate standard OR equipment and instrumentation

Maintain excellent communication with surgeons, anesthesia, techs, and the multidisciplinary team

Participate in on-call rotations (30-minute response time)

May be required to serve as Charge Nurse as needed

Complete all documentation accurately and promptly

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Active NY RN License
BLS required
ACLS preferred

Successful completion of the facility’s OR RN final exam (mandatory)

Minimum 1 year of medical/surgical experience preferred

Previous OR experience strongly preferred

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

Ability to work well in stressful, fast-paced situations

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

Ability to identify and respond to lethal dysrhythmias

Must be able to recognize safety risks and use lifting equipment when needed
