Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care to patients on-site.

• Monitor maternal-fetal status and respond to emergencies with evidence-based interventions.

• Collaborate with obstetric team to develop and update patient care plans.

• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EHR.

• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postnatal care instructions.

• Assist with procedural skills (induction, C-section support, anesthesia liaison) as scoped.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies in all activities.

• Maintain readiness and safety of the labor and delivery unit, including supplies and equipment.

• Track and report metrics related to patient outcomes and throughput to enable performance visibility.

• Mentor junior staff and peers to promote professional growth and skill development.

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.

Experience/Qualifications

• RN license in California with Labor & Delivery Certification

• Evidence-based obstetric nursing with rapid response to emergencies

• Experience in intrapartum fetal monitoring and C-section support

• Proficient EHR documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes

• Collaborative care with obstetric team and updating care plans

• Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and hospital policies

• Ability to educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postnatal care

• Unit readiness ownership: equipment, supplies, and safety checks

• Participation in quality improvement and performance metrics tracking

• Mentor and develop junior staff; support professional growth
