Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care to patients on-site.
Monitor maternal-fetal status and respond to emergencies with evidence-based interventions.
Collaborate with obstetric team to develop and update patient care plans.
Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EHR.
Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postnatal care instructions.
Assist with procedural skills (induction, C-section support, anesthesia liaison) as scoped.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies in all activities.
Maintain readiness and safety of the labor and delivery unit, including supplies and equipment.
Track and report metrics related to patient outcomes and throughput to enable performance visibility.
Mentor junior staff and peers to promote professional growth and skill development.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
Experience/Qualifications
RN license in California with Labor & Delivery Certification
Evidence-based obstetric nursing with rapid response to emergencies
Experience in intrapartum fetal monitoring and C-section support
Proficient EHR documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes
Collaborative care with obstetric team and updating care plans
Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and hospital policies
Ability to educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postnatal care
Unit readiness ownership: equipment, supplies, and safety checks
Participation in quality improvement and performance metrics tracking
Mentor and develop junior staff; support professional growth
