POSITION DESCRIPTION
A Traveling Superintendent is a construction professional with 5 or more years’ experience in the trades who is in charge of organizing the overall construction and management of building projects. Work involves supervision of skilled workers and subcontractors in one or more crews assigned to individual projects. Work is performed under the general direction of a project manager and is subject to periodic review for quality, efficiency, work methods and following company policies. Project manpower can range from 10 – 100 during peak execution phases with schedule duration ranging from 3 months to 2 years. The Superintendent’s performance is measured through KPI’s to contribute to the overall success of the company.

- Employment durations may be based on the project schedule.
- Remote projects may be in any of the states BU holds a license in.
- Compensation includes weekly base pay.
- Candidate must maintain residence “Home Base” at their own cost within 50 miles of an existing BU office.
- No lodging, per diem or travel available when working from home-base.
- When working remotely, lodging (min $125/day for 7 days) and meals per diem (min $40/day for 5 days) take effect for the duration of the onsite activities of the remote project.
- Available allowance for travel min $400/ Month.
- Project specific costs may increase minimum lodging, per diem and travel allowances.
- No company vehicle. Vehicle allowance to be $125/ Week. Fuel allowance up to $500/ Month, reimbursed through actual furnished receipts.
- Candidate can choose layoff in lieu of working at the “Home Base” existing BU office when not working remote

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, assign, and oversee daily work activities for crews and subcontractors to ensure alignment with project timelines and budgets.
- Maintain consistent communication with Project Management and Field Leadership; complete daily reports, field updates, and upload documentation/photos to Procore.
- Track labor hours, equipment, material usage, and proactively identify potential budget or schedule overages.
- Conduct daily Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) and ensure 100% compliance with all safety policies, including PPE requirements.
- Maintain a clean, secure, and organized job site always.
WEEKLY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and document weekly site safety meetings with all workers and subcontractors.
- Submit properly coded material and equipment receipts to the office by Friday.
- Update the Master Schedule and prepare three-week lookahead schedules in collaboration with the BU Scheduler.
- Identify and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) for review and ensure field observations and potential change orders are accurately documented.
- Track schedule impacts, scope changes, and field conditions through Procore.
OVERALL PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Maintain project safety, quality, and efficiency, ensuring all deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities, inspections, and materials to maintain seamless project progression.
- Serve as the primary on-site representative to clients, tenants, owners, and vendors, ensuring clear and professional communication.
- Assist in creating and maintaining project schedules, budgets, field reports, and punch lists.
- Maintain readiness to work on any shift variation of days, swing, nights and weekends required of the department or in emergency situations.
- Support project closeout by managing as-built drawings, archiving project documentation, and coordinating final inspections.
- Manage manpower, material procurement, and equipment needs to meet project demands.
- Immediately report major incidents, safety concerns, or project issues to the Project Manager and General Superintendent.
- Uphold company policies regarding project changes—no additional work is to proceed without an approved, signed change order.
- Strategically plan, assign, and schedule the work of tradespeople and equipment operators involved in project construction, providing oversight to ensure tasks are completed within budgeted hours and aligned with the project timeline.
- Maintain regular communication with Office and Field Leadership on project status through daily communications, daily field reports, and photos/ files uploaded to Procore. Complete daily field reports accurately and consistently, including “No Work” reports.
- Track job hours, tools, equipment, and total budget, notify management of any overages before they occur.
- Adhere to the project schedule, notify management of any deviations before they occur.
- Communication with entire crew including coordination/ cooperation with subs.
- Plan, Schedule, and Conduct Inspections on time, always looking ahead.
- Ensure Job site is safe and secure at the before, during and at the end of every shift.
- Maintain Personal KPI expectations to meet overall performance standards.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Budget Control: Labor, material, and equipment costs must meet or be below estimates.
- Manpower Management: Adequate staffing; tradespeople properly trained and equipped.
- Scheduling: Adherence to project P6 schedules; timely milestones; weekly updates.
- Reporting: Daily logs completed by 6 PM; accurate and timely submission of reports, receipts, and documents.
- Quality Control: Maintain BUQC high standards; achieve 0% punch list; drive 100% customer satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Minimum 5 years of commercial construction field experience as a Superintendent, overseeing medium to large-scale projects.
- Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors, vendors, and project activities across various commercial sectors.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, scheduling practices, and industry safety regulations (NRS, NAC, IIPP, NVOSHA, OSHA).
- Proficient in project management software, including Procore, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Bluebeam, and digital takeoff platforms.
- Skilled at reading and interpreting architectural plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Effective interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to establish trust, build teams, and foster collaboration.
- Commitment to safety, quality control, cost efficiency, and maintaining a professional, solution-driven attitude at all times.
- OSHA 30 Certification required.
- Valid Nevada Driver’s License required.
