Traveling generator installation technician

Traveling Generator Technician / Electrician – South Dallas, TX

We are seeking experienced Generator Technicians and Electricians for out-of-town work in the South Dallas, Dallas area. This position involves the installation, assembly, and internal wiring of industrial and commercial generator systems. Candidates should be comfortable traveling for extended periods and working in fast-paced construction environments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install industrial and commercial backup generator systems
  • Perform internal control and power wiring according to electrical schematics and manufacturer specifications
  • Install conduit, cable trays, wiring, and electrical components
  • Terminate and test control panels, switchgear, and automatic transfer switches (ATS)
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and verify proper system operation
  • Assist with startup, commissioning, and functional testing
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety standards
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and accurate job documentation
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, electricians, and mechanical crews

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of electrical or generator installation experience preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Familiarity with generators, ATS equipment, and switchgear is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel and stay out of town for project durations
  • Ability to work 10–12 hour shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds and work in various weather conditions

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • Journeyman Electrician License (preferred but not required)
  • NCCER Electrical Certification

Position Summary

This is an excellent opportunity for skilled electricians and generator technicians who enjoy traveling and working on large-scale power generation projects. The role is ideal for individuals experienced in internal wiring, equipment installation, of generator systems.

Pay: $20.00 - $33.05 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 80.0 per week
