Duties

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
• Monitor vital signs and assess the physical and emotional needs of patients.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and provide education to patients and families regarding postpartum recovery and infant care.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for patient management.
• Provide support during labor and delivery, including triage and emergency interventions when necessary.
• Engage in patient education regarding breastfeeding, infant care, and maternal health issues.

Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

• Proven experience in a hospital or clinical setting, particularly in maternal/child health or related fields.
• Familiarity with critical care, pediatrics, geriatrics, or emergency medicine is advantageous.
• Proficiency in medical terminology, patient assessment, medication administration, and basic life support techniques.
• Experience with various EMR systems is preferred; knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding is a plus.
• Background in long-term care, hospice & palliative medicine, or acute pain management will be beneficial.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations including those with developmental disabilities or chronic conditions.
