Truck Center inventory buyer

We are seeking a results-driven Inventory Buyer to lead the acquisition strategy for our growing Truck Center operation. This role is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, purchasing, and managing retail-ready truck inventory to support a targeted sales volume of 30+ units per month.

The ideal candidate understands market dynamics, gross profit management, and the urgency required in today’s competitive used-truck environment.

This is a high-impact position directly tied to dealership profitability.

Inventory Acquisition & Sourcing

  • Source trucks through auctions (in-lane and online), dealer trades, private sellers, fleet accounts, and service-drive opportunities

  • Develop relationships with wholesalers, fleet managers, and independent sellers

  • Identify high-demand units based on current market trends and dealership turn objectives

  • Monitor market pricing using vAuto, ACV, Manheim, and other data tools

  • Analytics & Reporting

    • Maintain inventory mix aligned with demand (light duty, heavy duty, diesel, commercial)

    • Track:

      • Days to line

      • Days in inventory

      • Front-end gross per unit

      • ROI on purchased inventory

    • Provide weekly acquisition performance reporting

    • Qualifications

      • 3+ years of automotive/truck buying experience preferred

      • Strong understanding of auction platforms and wholesale market trends

      • Proven track record of profitable inventory acquisition

      • Ability to analyze MMR, market data, and retail pricing models

      • close attention to detail in reconditioning forecasting

      • Self-motivated and performance-driven

      • Competitive base salary

      • Performance bonus based on:

        • Gross profit generated

        • Turn rate performance

        • Inventory aging control

      • Potential additional incentive for sourcing off-auction units
