TRUCK DRIVER - CL A CDL

Davis Construction, Inc. is ACTIVELY seeking an experienced CDL CLASS A licensed truck drivers with experience in gravel trains, flatbed loads and moving heavy equipment.

We are a local Heavy Highway construction company based in Lansing, Michigan, with our trucks reporting to our temporary yard location in Grand Ledge, MI.

Our jobs are typically located in the lower peninsula of Michigan with occasional work in the U.P. We offer comprehensive benefits to include medical, dental, life insurance, and vision.

Job Responsibilities:

The truck driver’s responsibilities include driving trucks equipped with various configurations of trailers to transport equipment and materials such as aggregate, equipment, construction supplies, dirt, or debris to and from various locations. The driver will supervise the proper loading of materials onto the truck and verify material weight to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

In addition, the driver will be required to perform daily truck equipment inspections and all required safety equipment including, but not limited to; tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, water, and etc. before each shift to assure equipment is safe for usage and complete a written daily inspection report as required. The driver must promptly report any accidents, injuries or mechanical faults to management and assist with performing regular maintenance to ensure that the truck is in good working order.

The driver must closely coordinate with other equipment operators and laborers to ensure the safety of all personnel in the area.

Additional Requirements:

• ­Valid CDL-A and Medical card
• ­Clean driving record
• ­Perform minor repairs such as replacing lights, tires and mudflaps
• Chain, strap and/or tarp to secure load for transit.
• ­Connect / disconnect various trailers for a variety of truck configurations.
• ­Load, unload, and secures equipment on various trailer types.
• ­ Working knowledge of construction site safety, truck maintenance, and road safety regulations.

Some experience running/operating equipment is preferable

• ­Drive other vehicles and/or configurations as assigned and trained (Ability to drive all vehicle types ideal).
• ­ Maintain accurate driver logs.
• ­ Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the driver is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The driver is required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
