CDL Class B Driver / Shop Technician

Starting Pay: $28.00+ per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Special Mine Services, Inc. (SMS) is seeking a dependable, safety-focused CDL Class B Driver / Shop Technician to join our employee-owned company in Princeton, Indiana. This unique position combines local driving responsibilities with hands-on shop work supporting the coal mining industry throughout Southern Indiana.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy variety in their workday, combining approximately 50% local CDL driving and 50% shop operations, including mine cable repair and related services. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport mine supplies and materials to customer mine sites throughout Southern Indiana.
• Pick up and return mine cable and related equipment for repair and service.
• Assist with mine cable repair, testing, and shop operations.
• Load, unload, and secure materials and equipment.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintain DOT compliance.
• Follow all company safety policies and mine site requirements.
• Support additional shop and warehouse functions as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class B License required.
• Current DOT Medical Card required.
• Registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
• Clean driving record and commitment to safe work practices.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Ability to regularly lift and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Mechanical aptitude, industrial experience, or mining industry experience is a plus, but not required.

Schedule

• Full-Time
• Monday through Friday
• 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• Occasional overtime opportunities available
