Truck Supervisor

Overview
The Truck Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and optimizing daily transportation operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, company standards, labor agreements, and contractual requirements. This role serves as the central point of coordination between dispatch, field operations, safety, labor partners, and project management to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective fleet utilization.

  • Coordinate with the Construction Coordinator (Dispatcher), Superintendents, Project Managers, and Foremen to ensure trucking needs are met.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all drivers, communicating daily work assignments, routes, and expectations.
  • When necessary, or in the absence of the Construction Coordinator, perform full dispatch duties.
  • Optimize truck routes to reduce travel time and improve efficiency.
  • Utilize route tracking and telematics data to support data driven decisions.
  • Research dump sites, aggregate facilities, haul routes, and applicable haul or tipping fees by project.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with Teamsters Locals to support staffing needs.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard highly qualified drivers, including sourcing outside Teamsters when necessary.
  • Assist the Construction Coordinator with new-hire procedures, ensuring distribution, completion, and return of all required documentation within 24 hours.
  • Coach drivers to operate safely, professionally, and productively.
  • Review and verify all pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Assign coaching and training based on safety events, trends, and performance metrics.
  • Maintain comprehensive FMCSA compliance, including driver qualification files, hours-of-service monitoring, and DOT vehicle inspection requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with SMS, PSP, WSDOT, Hazmat, and driver certification requirements.
  • Contact, establish, and maintain relationships with external trucking firms to supplement company-owned fleet resources.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with subcontractor trucking goals and DBE
  • requirements tied to project awards.
  • Obtain and manage required county and state permits, including annual fleet permits and oversize/overweight move permits.
  • Ensure all required DOT and fleet documentation is maintained and available with drivers.

Qualifications

  • Experience in transportation, dispatch, logistics, or construction fleet operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of FMCSA regulations and DOT compliance requirements.
  • Experience with dispatch, telematics, and fleet management systems (HCSS and Samsara preferred).
  • Ability to work effectively with union labor environments.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across departments and field operations.
  • Maintain an active Commercial Drivers License

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $2,300.00 - $2,600.00 per week
