We are looking for a Tuber to join our team! This position will file and ream holes previously drilled in steel plate boiler heads in addition to securing, cutting, inserting, and clamping tubes in boiler heads. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined and experienced in using hand, power, and measuring tools.

This is a full-time, union-hourly position located in Lancaster, PA. Hours are Monday-Friday, 6 AM - 2:30 PM; Saturdays as needed (maximum of two required 6 AM – 12 PM).

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Sets up boiler in preparation for tubing.
  • Files and reams holes previously drilled in boiler heads (when necessary).
  • Inserts tubes through holes in front and rear boiler heads.
  • Cuts off excess length of tubes with hand held tube cutter as required.
  • Clamps each tube in boiler head (front and read) preparatory to rolling or flanging the tubes.
  • Rolls (flares) all tubes using a split roll hand held compressed air power machine (to expand the tube and fit it tightly into heads).
  • Using compressed air hammer with beading tool in it, beads all flanges which rounds the flange and forces the flange against the boiler head (prevents the flanges from burning during boiler operation).
  • Using the straight roll in the compressed air hand held pneumatic drill, re-flares all tubes to retighten in boiler heads (after they have been loosened by previous operation).
  • Performs related work as directed commensurate with this or lesser rates labor grade.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with power, hand, and measuring tools

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
