Tutor - Special Education

Join the Angwin Academy team as a Tutor in Special Education, where your passion for empowering students with diverse learning needs will make a meaningful difference. In this role, you will provide personalized individual instruction tailored to each student's unique learning styles, fostering confidence and academic growth. Whether working with students in person or online, you’ll utilize innovative teaching strategies and learning technologies to create an engaging and supportive educational environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with families, educators, and specialists to support children’s development and success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement customized lesson plans that align with individual education plans (IEPs) and curriculum standards for students with special needs.
  • Adapt instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles, ensuring accessibility for all students.
  • Provide targeted tutoring in core subjects such as English language arts, mathematics, science, and writing skills.
  • Monitor student progress regularly using our in house software platform.
  • Adjusting teaching strategies to meet evolving educational goals.
  • Collaborate with other tutors and team members.
  • Communicate with families consistently and openly throughout the education journey.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in tutoring or teaching students with special education needs, including familiarity with IEPs and individualized instruction.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional adaptability across various subjects including math, science, and English language arts.
  • Proficiency with learning technology platforms used for online instruction and digital learning tools.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage students from diverse cultural backgrounds and support their unique learning styles.
  • Background in early childhood education and or experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work with children of different ages, including elementary, middle and high school demonstrating patience and classroom management skills.
  • Experience working with students who have different disabilities or learning challenges is preferred.
