UCC Crisis Clinical Supervisor (FT)

The Urgent Crisis Center (UCC) is a behavioral health urgent care center that provides crisis evaluation, de-escalation, and community coordination of care for children and youth experiencing a behavioral or psychiatric crisis. The UCC is a voluntary program and offers crisis stabilization support, comprehensive mental health assessments, short-term medication services (if indicated and urgently needed), collaborative safety planning, and thoughtful connection and coordination with on-going mental health and informal support services for youth ages 14-18 years of age. All evaluations, assessments, safety planning, and initial recommendations for follow-up care must occur within a 24-hour time period. The UCC is a fast-paced work environment with a multi-disciplinarian assessment approach.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Crisis Clinical Supervisor is responsible for supervising the clinical decision among UCC team members. The supervisor is available to consult with team members for decisions related to admissions, triage assessments, case flow and assignments, optimizing workflow, abuse/neglect reports, case management, safety planning, treatment recommendations and discharge planning. Additionally, the Clinical Supervisor supports the day-to-day management (staff supervision and assists in program development and implementation) at the UCC. The Crisis Clinical Supervisor is required to work their assigned schedule but may be asked to shift/alter this in response to high workflow time periods. He/She may also be assigned to work after-hours or weekend coverage as needed.

In times of high client need or clinician shortages, the clinical supervisor is also responsible for direct services with children, adolescents and their families including but not limited to crisis evaluation/assessment; coordination of care with existing providers, case and care management; brief intensive therapies; de-escalation; record keeping; as well as collaboration with other professionals, team members and related community services (including consultation and/or community and/or school placements). All supervisors are assigned a primary schedule but will be required to cover shifts outside this schedule during periods of high client need. The Clinical Supervisor is assigned to carry a company provided smartphone and responds to all calls for assistance either by telephone or in person (as clinically indicated).

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide clinical oversight and supervision to UCC team members who work directly with youth and families in the clinic.
• Consult with clinicians related to a client safety planning, risk assessment and provide support needed to deescalate or reduce risk.
• To participate in the UCC management team around tasks associated with program implementation, training, onboarding, data collection/verification/analysis and documentation.
• To review and approve all clinical documentation for staff to ensure adherence with corporate compliance standards for diagnostic evaluations, treatment plans, safety and discharge/disposition plans, including review of clinical content, formulation and recommendations within the appropriate timelines.
• Support the workflow and daily operations of the UCC.
• Support the training and on-boarding of new hires.
• Provide licensure and clinical supervision when applicable.
• In times of high client volume, provide comprehensive crisis evaluations, treatment plans and treatment of children, adolescents and families in times of high client need.
• Provide medication evaluations and provide follow-up care in a short term basis as needed (APRN providers only).
• Assess and implement crisis stabilization plans that include immediate tasks for crisis management and connection to clinically indicated resources and services in times of high client need.
• To complete clinical documentation within required timelines to ensure appropriate and ethical care. Per diem clinicians are expected to complete documentation, such as diagnostic evaluations and case management notes, before leaving their shift for the day.
• To respond to any document feedback or revisions in a timely fashion to ensure ongoing compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
• Maintain contact and provide follow-up with families as needed, including phone and collaborative support.
• Maintain confidential and/or any other required program documents, including but not limited to insurance and/or managed care required documentation.
• Maintain a level of productivity as determined by the program supervisor.
• To assist program management or agency leadership with assigned tasks or projects that develop to support the communities we serve.
• To work collaboratively as a member of a team with other professionals and concerned parties involved in cases (particularly with Wellmore’s Mobile Crisis Intervention Services program).
• To assist in the organization, marketing, planning and implementation of the program. This includes participation in community events, completing outreach to community schools and agencies and other local/regional events.
• To serve on agency or community committees as directed by program management.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

This is primarily an EVENING position, 2pm-10pm.

Must have the ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of both agency and client matters. Must understand and be able to display the clinical knowledge and expertise necessary to perform crisis intervention. Must be able to display clinical knowledge and expertise necessary to perform crisis intervention. Must be able to display knowledge and expertise in clinical theory and practice as it relates to the populations served by Wellmore, including bilingual and bicultural needs. Must be capable of working as a part of a team and be able to effectively communicate with both families and professionals (in writing and verbally). Must have comfort with navigating and documenting within an electronic health record and use communication platforms, such as Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Outlook. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the UCC program. Must be able to display an understanding of the diverse cultural communities prominent in greater Waterbury, Danbury and Torrington communities. Working knowledge of the greater Waterbury/Danbury/Torrington areas is preferred. Bi-lingual (Spanish-English) is preferred.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

A Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, social work, counseling and a Connecticut license as a LMFT, LCSW, LPC or a Doctorate in psychology and a Connecticut license as a psychologist or Board certified Pediatric or Lifespan Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (with an active CT license as an APRN and active DEA#) is required. Two years’ post graduate clinical experience working with children, adolescents or families is required; four years’ experience is preferred. Experience with supervision is required; experience with training/onboarding and supportive data management/analysis is preferred. Experience in family therapies and/or training in family systems theory and practice are also preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION

Must have a full CT license as a mental health provider (ie., LCSW, LPC, LMFT), Psychologist, or APRN.

Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and valid auto insurance required; CPR and first aid.

CONTINUED COMPETENCY

Must maintain a satisfactory performance evaluation.
