UI UX Senior Designer

UI/UX Designer - Diabetes Technology
We're seeking a talented UI/UX Designer to create intuitive digital experiences for the Pivot insulin pump and next-generation diabetes technology. You'll design mobile apps, portals, and data dashboards that simplify diabetes management for patients and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end experiences for iOS, Android, and web applications including companion apps, provider tools, and onboarding flows
- Create wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that transform complex workflows into simple, intuitive interfaces
- Build and maintain a comprehensive design system in Figma with design tokens, component libraries, and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+)
- Partner with iOS, Android, and web development teams to ensure pixel-perfect implementation
- Conduct user research and usability testing with patients, diabetes educators, and healthcare providers to validate design decisions
- Collaborate with product, clinical, engineering, and marketing teams in Agile/Scrum processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 4-7 years of UX/UI or product design experience focused on consumer digital products
- Proven experience shipping native mobile products (iOS/Android) with strong understanding of platform-specific design patterns
- Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design thinking and successful product launches (portfolio required)
- Expert proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools
- Strong visual design skills with attention to UI aesthetics, typography, and brand consistency
- Understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+)
- Excellent communication skills with ability to work in fast-paced, Agile environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing for healthcare, medical devices, or chronic disease management
- Familiarity with FDA human factors requirements (IEC 62366-1) for regulated medical devices
- Experience with data visualization, health dashboards, or gamified experiences
- Understanding of diabetes terminology and patient needs
Details
Location: San Diego, CA (on-site/hybrid)
Travel: Occasional (up to 15%) for user research and conferences
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the USA. Sponsorship not available.
