TITLE: UI/UX Designer – Industrial Automation
LOCATION: Remote
PAY: Target pay for this role is $55–$70 per hour, but may vary based on experience
ENGAGEMENT TYPE: 6-Month Contract
We’re supporting a client building a next-generation industrial automation platform, and they’re looking for a UI/UX Designer who can turn complex, high-precision workflows into clean, intuitive user experiences. This is not a “make it pretty” design job — it’s meaningful work that impacts real operators, engineers, and automated systems.
If you enjoy solving tough UX problems, designing for technical users, and building interfaces where clarity and usability matter, this project will fit you well.
Lead end-to-end design: research, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI.
Collaborate with operators, engineers, SMEs, and product teams to understand real-world workflows.
Design dashboards, control panels, monitoring tools, and configuration screens for industrial environments.
Translate complex technical and safety requirements into intuitive interactions.
Conduct usability testing and iterate based on findings.
Create and maintain design systems, components, and documentation for engineering handoff.
Work closely with developers to ensure smooth implementation and consistent UX across the platform.
5+ years of professional UI/UX design experience.
Experience with front-end web development, IDE-style interfaces, graphical programming tools, or directed graph UI patterns.
Strong portfolio showcasing work on complex systems, industrial tools, IoT platforms, or enterprise applications.
Proficiency with Figma (preferred), Sketch, or similar tools.
Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
Ability to simplify complex workflows into clear, intuitive experiences.
Excellent communication skills — able to work with engineering, product, and business teams.
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
Experience with industrial automation, SCADA/HMI, or manufacturing technology.
Familiarity with responsive/adaptive design.
Knowledge of accessibility standards.
Experience building or maintaining design systems.
Authorization to work in the US is a precondition of employment — we do not sponsor work visas. Please NO Third-Party Applicants.
Opportunity to establish UX standards for an emerging product line. This is a rare opportunity to design interfaces that power real machines and industrial operations — not consumer apps, not marketing sites. Your work will directly influence efficiency, safety, and performance in real-world environments. If you love meaningful UX challenges, you’ll thrive here.
Our client is a remote, well-funded startup building a cutting-edge industrial automation platform. You’ll join a collaborative team with excellent work-life balance, meaningful problems to solve, and a modern tech environment where thoughtful design truly matters.
