Overview
IvoryCloud is seeking a UI/UX Designer Lead to own the transformation for a new system modernization effort custom tailored for the law enforcement space. The ideal candidate brings experience consolidating the legacy desktop and mobile applications into a single responsive, accessible, modern web experience used by 6,000+ federal, state, and local users. This role translates complex law enforcement workflows into intuitive interfaces, produces high-fidelity wireframes in Adobe XD, enforces the UI/UX Style Guide, and validates designs through user testing.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of UI/UX design experience with at least 4 years leading UX for complex enterprise or federal web applications
- Expert proficiency in Adobe XD; strong proficiency in complementary tools (Figma, Sketch, Axure) and Adobe Creative Suite
- Proven portfolio of responsive, device-agnostic web application designs — wireframes, mockups, prototypes, sitemaps, process flows, and storyboards
- Demonstrable experience applying and contributing to design systems and component libraries; ability to work within an established style guide
- Expertise in Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards at the design level: color contrast, keyboard navigation, screen-reader semantics, ARIA patterns, focus states
- Experience designing data-dense interfaces: dashboards, search results, map-based interactions, record detail pages, multi-step forms, and role-based navigation
- Experience with map-based UX patterns: geographic search with bounding, interactive card results, layered maps, point and shape layers.
- Proven experience conducting user research, usability testing, and iterative design based on user feedback.
- Experience working embedded in Agile SCRUM teams; comfortable producing designs at sprint cadence and presenting to product owners and stakeholders.
Education
· BA or BS degree in Business Information Systems or similar IT related discipline
Certifications
- At least one certification from one of the following is highly preferred:
◦ Nielsen Norman Group (NN/g) UX Certification
◦ IAAP CPACC or WAS (Accessibility Certifications)
◦ UXQB / CPUX (Certified Professional for Usability and UX)
◦ HFI Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) or CXA (Human Factors International)
- At least one certification such as: SAFe Agilist or Agile UX certification, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI-ACP, or equivalent Agile certification is highly desired
Highly Preferred Qualifications
- Current or recent prior experience supporting Department of Justice/Law Enforcement-related software systems
- Prior experience with law enforcement case management, incident reporting, or criminal justice information systems
- Experience operating in Agile software services and cross-functional teams within a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 3 or higher accredited program
- Experience designing for mobile-first responsive applications
- Front-end prototyping capability (HTML, CSS, modern JS frameworks) to collaborate directly with developers
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-fidelity wireframes in Adobe XD for all modules: landing page, home page with map-based search, incident module (persons, organizations, vehicles, devices/materials, narratives, files, location, scene details, evidence/property, report review), activities, analytics, documents and advisories, help/chat, tracing, and admin across three tiers
- Produce graphic UI elements and UI mockups/prototypes
- Deliver the UX Designer Basic Design Principles presentation
- Enforce consistency with the UI & UX Style Guide
- Lead accessibility compliance at the design level and support Section 508 testing efforts
- Conduct user testing with stakeholders and end-users; iterate based on feedback
- Design mobile prototypes as prioritized by the COR/GTM and Product Owner
- Collaborate with the Technical Solutions Architect Lead to ensure design decisions aligned with performance, security, and CI/CD realities
- Translate business needs into designs that optimize usability without negatively affecting application performance
