Job Overview
Glendale Home is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a commitment to providing exceptional administrative support within a medical environment. As a Unit Clerk, you will play a crucial role in managing patient records, coordinating communication between departments, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities within the unit.
Duties
- Prepares medical records for new admissions and re-admission; such as making out headings, giving out ID bracelets, etc.;
- Maintains residents’ files with current information by transcribing data, completing assigned portions of forms and flagging face sheets as required;
- Distributes residents’ medical information, as required, in accordance with policies and procedures;
- Posts required information on unit calendar;
- Closes out all discharge, bed loss, expiration and other records, delivers to Medical Records Office and enters resident’s name in log book;
- Maintains the compendium of records six months or older separately from current resident chart and assists other disciplines in locating information in the overflow;
- Utilizes computerized system to input, update, retrieve and print medical records data and consults;
- Prepares residents’ eyeglasses to be sent out for repairs and delivers to the Medical Records office;
- Delivers physicians orders to the pharmacy and may hand carry assorted drugs to the nursing unit;
- Processes laboratory form upon physician’s order and may carry lab samples to storage areas;
- May offer suggestions in the development/revision of forms;
- Inputs data provided by nursing staff, update and retrieve resident medical records including, but not limited to Patient Review Instruments, Comprehensive Care Plans and MD’s assessments;
- Distributes mail, flowers, and packages to residents;
- Directs the delivery and storage of supplies and equipment;
- Prepares requisitions for repairs, weekly unit supplies, office supplies and consults;
- Keeps appearance of nursing unit neat and in order;
- Completes forms as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one (1) year of experience working in a nursing home or long term care facility, which experience shall have included the documentation of medical records.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.15 - $23.61 per hour
