Universal Academy Middle School Math Teacher Job Summary

The Middle School Math Teacher will provide deliver lessons that develop students theoretical and applied mathematical skills. Demonstrate numeric functions, equations, and various mathematical principles to students.

Secondary School Math Teacher duties and responsibilities

· Plan and present math lessons to students in secondary school, educating them about the world of numbers to help students develop critical-thinking abilities by gaining an understanding of mathematics concepts.

· Create engaging lesson plans and activities for the learners to ensure that students gain a well-rounded knowledge of both fundamental and advanced mathematics

· Develop an engaging course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and state standards and school district curriculum guidelines

· Prepare materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates, corrects, and grades student performance.

· Enforces safety standards for classroom, hallways, and educational trips.

· Administers standardized tests in accordance with district, state laws and policies.

· Communicates progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, and principal.

· Supervises the behavior of students in the classroom, School grounds, and on educational trips.

· Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents.

· Monitors hallways, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff.

· Maintains knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in secondary education.

· Performs related tasks such as sponsoring student activities or organizations.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other

· Complete daily student attendance, enter grades, complete progress reports online

· Complete weekly quiz trackers for collecting data on students’ academic progress.

· Attend quarterly academic data meetings to discuss students’ academic data

· Talk to parents about their children’s progress

· Document parent teacher communication

· Attend weekly professional development trainings

· Maintain required paperwork for individual student files, attendance, safety drills, incident reports, and other necessary records.

Qualifications

· Thorough understanding of the pedagogy and best practices of education.

  • Bachelor's degree in education with a specialization in mathematics, or equivalent.

· Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.

· State teaching license required.

· Ongoing maintenance of all requirements regarding professional courses and in-services required.

· Specialized training in teaching secondary school-aged students is preferred.

· Ability to work effectively with diverse staff, parents, and community members

· Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people

· Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed

Skills/Personal Attributes

· Desire to teach secondary school-aged students and ability to adapt to their developmental status

· Ability to use technology i.e. smart boards, knowledge of Microsoft office

· Strong leadership skills.

· Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and individual or collaborative projects and research.

· Creative analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Must be able to traverse school facility and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.

Preferred

Prior teaching experience in Mathematics

Master’s degree highly preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
