Universal Banker

Position Summary

A Universal Banker is a financial professional who is responsible for providing a wide variety of services to customers, while having the ability to handle customer interactions from beginning to end. This individual will assist customers in understanding their financial options and be knowledgeable about the bank’s services and products, while guiding customers to solutions that best fit their needs. They are highly motivated and customer-focused, always looking for new challenges and opportunities for professional growth. This person will be fully knowledgeable and skilled in the areas of teller and assist when needed.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provide both teller and desk-side support as needed to keep customer wait times to a minimum while providing quality customer service. Support may include performing daily processing of financial transactions (deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, transfers, loan payments, wire transfers, cash advances, currency exchanges, stop payments and holds, cashier’s checks, money orders, savings bonds, and closing of accounts) as well as having the ability to open all types of new consumer accounts offered by Unico Bank and be able to explain in detail all bank products and services to customers.
  • Adhere to federal and state banking regulations as well as Unico Bank policies and procedures
  • Provide information regarding different account ownership types
  • Research and resolve problems related to customer inquiries regarding their accounts
  • Update and process all documents pertaining to new and existing accounts
  • Answer telephones and transfer calls to the appropriate person following the Bank’s customer service standards
  • Generate instant issue debit cards and perform data entry for card maintenance
  • Process and complete documentation and data entry maintenance for cards closed, lost, stolen, or destroyed
  • Process check orders
  • Accept and process address and contact information changes per bank policy
  • Keep up to date with monthly activities assigned through the monthly reviews
  • Have basic knowledge of FDIC Deposit Insurance rules
  • Allow customers to access safe deposit boxes, maintain box agreements, and entry logs per current procedures
  • Complete all appropriate documentation for different types of transaction disputes (ACH and debit card) to be submitted for review
  • Travel to other branch locations may be required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required and a minimum of 1-3 years of banking experience strongly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Flexibility with hours and days, as applicable to branch. Saturday hours may be required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, policies and memorandums
  • Must possess the ability to speak clearly so others can understand
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. Ability to use a basic calculator.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations
  • Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether transactions, events or processes comply with laws, regulations or Bank standards
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and time management skills
  • Provide a high level of customer service offering answers and assistance with a smile
  • Previous experience with the Microsoft Office suite and banking-related software preferred
  • Ability to deal directly with the public (face-to-face and on the phone) following the Bank’s customer service standards
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time
  • Ability to promote a positive, team environment with a focus on customer service

Employment Type

Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
