Position Summary

The Universal Banker is the face of Carver State Bank — a dynamic, community-centered role that blends traditional teller functions with relationship-building and client education. Universal Bankers serve every client who walks through our doors, providing seamless banking experiences while actively promoting the Bank's products, services, and mission. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, genuinely cares about the financial wellbeing of others, and wants to be part of a historic institution making a real difference in Metro Atlanta.

Universal Bankers report to the Branch Manager and/or Assistant Branch Manager.

Essential Functions

Client Service & Transactions

  • Greet and assist clients in a warm, professional, and welcoming manner consistent with Carver's community-first culture
  • Process retail and commercial deposits, loan payments, checking and savings withdrawals, and cash transactions
  • Cash checks for customers and non-customers; maintain compliance with verification procedures
  • Respond promptly and positively to client inquiries, concerns, and account issues
  • Assist clients with bookkeeping, account disputes, and resolution processes

Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain and balance cash drawer in accordance with bank procedures; research and resolve outages
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and banking regulations governing teller functions
  • Follow established opening and closing procedures
  • Maintain supplies, organization, and cleanliness of work area
  • Perform drive-thru teller functions as needed

Product Knowledge & Referrals

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all Carver State Bank products, services, and digital banking tools
  • Assist clients with online banking enrollment, debit card management, and account inquiries
  • Actively refer clients to appropriate business lines including small business services and lending
  • Promote the Bank's products and services in a consultative, needs-based manner

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year of cash handling experience in a bank or retail environment
  • Strong customer service track record

Preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field
  • Two or more years of bank teller or CSR experience
  • Familiarity with CDFI mission-driven banking

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position operates in a professional branch office environment. The employee must be able to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. Must be available to work within branch hours of operation: Monday–Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM and Saturdays as scheduled. Occasional travel to other Carver locations may be required.
